During the second-ever Hololive Night at Dodger Stadium, VTubers Ninomae Ina’nis, IRyS, and Koseki Bijou took over the jumbotron along side a first-of-its-kind live stream from a major U.S. sports venue. We caught up with COVER Corp CEO Motoaki Tanigo following the wildly successful Hololive × Dodgers Night 2025. From ceremonial first pitches to real-time VTuber livestreams in a stadium, Tanigo shared his thoughts on Hololive’s explosive growth and future plans.

Krystal:
You threw the ceremonial first pitch at the second Hololive Night at Dodger Stadium—how did it feel stepping onto that mound with thousands of fans cheering? Did you prepare/practice before the game?
Tanigo-san:
I’ve thrown the first pitch in Japan before, but doing it at Dodger Stadium was a special experience. I didn’t practice beforehand, but I did get a chance to warm up on the field right before.
This was the first time Hololive VTubers livestreamed from a major U.S. sports stadium. What did it mean for you to witness Hololive talents on the stadium screen?
Tanigo-san:
One of the biggest appeals of VTubers is their interactive engagement with fans. By having them appear on the stadium screen in real time, I believe fans enjoyed it even more than the first collaboration.
Krystal:
Did you get to meet any of the Dodgers players backstage? Any fans of VTubers among them?
Tanigo-san:
Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to meet any of the Dodgers players.
Krystal:
The fan response at the stadium was electric—did anything from that night surprise or deeply move you?
Tanigo-san:
After the game, seeing fans run around the field together, having so much fun, made me truly glad we did this collaboration.
Now that Hololive has reached Dodger Stadium, are there any other unexpected venues or collaborations you’re aiming for? Maybe the Super Bowl halftime show or The Olympics next?
Tanigo-san:
First, I’d like to deepen collaborations with gaming events. But eventually, I’d also love to partner with other major sports leagues like the NBA or NFL.
Krystal:
What’s something you still want Hololive to explore that hasn’t been done yet?
Tanigo-san:
I’d love to have our talents appear on American TV shows, music programs, or talk shows. We’ve already done this in Japan, but I want to make it happen in the U.S. too.
With more in-person VTuber events growing popular, anime cafes have also seen an increase outside Japan. Can we expect a Hololive Cafe in the near future?
Tanigo-san:
I’d love to bring the kind of collaboration cafes we’ve done in Japan and Asia to the U.S. And not just cafes—I want to expand partnerships with restaurants and other venues too.
Krystal:
If you were to debut as a Hololive VTuber tomorrow, what would your name, concept, and catchphrase be?
Tanigo-san:
Unfortunately, I don’t have the talent to be an entertainer, so debuting in Hololive would be tough. I’d rather leave those opportunities to younger, more talented people.
Krystal:
Finally, any message you’d like to send to Hololive fans around the world?
Tanigo-san:
I believe VTubers are an incredible tool for young, talented individuals to shine as entertainers. Moving forward, we’ll keep debuting amazing talents that fans will love to support, and we’ll explore new ventures—like TCGs—that bring everyone joy. Thank you for your continued support!

TOKYOPOP and Kinokuniya USA have announced a special summer art exhibition to celebrate the ongoing success of Lullaby of the Dawn, the acclaimed BL fantasy manga by creator Ichika Yuno. Titled Scenes from Lullaby of the Dawn: Celebrating 1.7 Million Copies Sold, the activation will take place at eight Kinokuniya store locations across five U.S. states from July through August 2025.
The limited-run in-store exhibits will showcase official artwork from the series and offer fans a chance to purchase manga volumes and exclusive licensed merchandise, including art prints, postcards, and sticker sets. Each exhibit will run for 10 days, with select dates aligning with major anime conventions such as Anime Expo, Anime Matsuri, and Anime NYC.

The exhibit celebrates the growing global fanbase of Lullaby of the Dawn, which won first place in the 2022 Chill Chill BL Awards’ Best Comic category. The story follows Elva, a kannagi warrior priest corrupted by the power of the black sea, and Alto, a devoted young villager who vows to serve him and help free him from his curse. Set in a rich fantasy world, the series explores themes of fate, loneliness, devotion, and healing.
“We’re very proud to partner with Kinokuniya USA to present this special exhibit for manga fans,” said Owais Farooqui, Director of Marketing and Sales at TOKYOPOP. “Several dates also coincide with some of North America’s biggest summer anime conventions, and we invite fans to add it as a must-see highlight on their con schedules.”
Kinokuniya also emphasized the collaboration’s significance, with East Coast Regional Manager Shigekazu Watanabe stating, “We are excited to present Scenes from Lullaby of the Dawn with TOKYOPOP and mark an important sales milestone for the series.”

About Lullaby of the Dawn
Elva, an immortal shaman with snow-white hair and cursed blackened limbs, battles nightmarish sea creatures to protect his island. Japanese audio brand AVIOT, operated by Preseed Japan Corporation, has officially launched its 2025 Spring/Summer Promo Tour with appearances scheduled at five major anime conventions throughout North America. Known for combining cutting-edge technology with fan-favorite characters, AVIOT will showcase and sell its unique line of character voice earbuds and exclusive collaboration merchandise during this promotional run.
Following appearances at Sakura-Con and Anime Boston earlier this year, the tour will continue with stops at OffKai Expo (June 19–21), Anime Expo (July 3–6), and Anime NYC (August 23–25). Fans attending these events will have a chance to explore AVIOT’s character voice earbuds—high-performance wireless earbuds featuring custom voice recordings, thematic artwork, and immersive audio tuning inspired by popular anime, games, and VTubers.
Each earbud model offers voice prompts voiced by the featured characters, including exclusive lines only available through the “Random Voice” function. Some models come equipped with multiple voice modes that can be toggled through a companion app, enhancing replayability and personal customization. Frontier Works Inc. has announced an exclusive collaboration that merges the world of virtual pop idol Hatsune Miku and the Tokyo National Museum’s cultural preservation efforts. Titled the “Hatsune Miku × Tokyo National Museum Cultural Property Conservation Program,” this unique initiative brings limited-edition merchandise to North America and will be showcased at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles.
Running from July 3 to July 6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Anime Expo attendees can experience the exhibit at the animate GROUP booth (South Hall, SH-504), where Frontier Works will display the collaborative collection. Exclusive ticket-style cards will be distributed only at the venue, and merchandise will be available for purchase on-site. Sample items from the made-to-order collection will also be on display.
This collaboration features Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, and Kagamine Len reimagined through the lens of iconic Japanese cultural artifacts. Among the most anticipated items are those inspired by the Important Cultural Property “Robe (Kosode) with Autumn Flowers,” affectionately nicknamed “Fuyuki Kosode.” This includes “Fuyuki Kosode Miku,” developed as part of the Korin Kimono Restoration Project.
Other featured characters include “Beauty Looking Back Miku,” and new renditions such as “Haniwa: Warrior in ‘Keikō’ Armor Miku” and “Haniwa: Dancing People Rin & Len,” created for the “Dancing Haniwa & Beauty Looking Back Conservation Project.”
The collaborative goods will be available for pre-order beginning June 16, 2025 (PDT), exclusively through the animate USA Online Shop. The pre-order period will run until July 20, 2025. A portion of all sales will be donated to the Tokyo National Museum to support the conservation of cultural properties.
This project is a joint initiative between Crypton Future Media, the Tokyo National Museum, and the National Center for the Promotion of Cultural Properties.

Paru Itagaki, the acclaimed creator of BEASTARS, returns with a bold and offbeat new anime titled SANDA, an unconventional Santa Claus action series adapted from her original manga. Produced by Science SARU (DAN DA DAN, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off), SANDA is set in a dystopian near-future Japan where extreme child protection laws exist to combat a super-declining birthrate. The TV anime will premiere in Japan on October 3, 2025, with a world premiere event scheduled for Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles.
Anime Expo 2025 will host the global debut of SANDA on July 4 at the JW Marriott’s Platinum Ballroom. The special event will include a screening of the anime’s first episode, a live drawing session with Paru Itagaki, scene commentary, a Q&A with the creative team, and a guest message from lead voice actor Ayumu Murase, who plays the title role. Attendees will also receive an exclusive SANDA-themed towel.
Joining Itagaki at the event are director Tomohisa Shimoyama and producer Kohei Sakita of Science SARU. The anime’s storyline follows protagonist Kazushige Sanda, a boy living in a society where children are scarce, and Santa Claus has become a hidden, sealed-away figure. Sanda’s journey begins when his connection to Santa is awakened in a world that has forgotten him.
The second teaser PV for the series has also been released, introducing a cast of Sanda’s classmates at Daikoku Welfare Academy. In a world dominated by overprotection and state-mandated adult responsibilities, the trailer raises key questions: how is Santa Claus perceived in an age without children, and what role will Sanda play in uncovering buried truths?
The new cast includes Umeka Shoji as Shiori Fuyumura, a towering classmate who seeks Sanda’s help to rescue her missing friend. Anna Nagase voices Ichie Ono, the vanished best friend at the center of the mystery. Yuuki Shin plays Hitoshi Amaya, Sanda’s enigmatic roommate, and Misato Matsuoka voices Nico Kazao, Sanda’s government-assigned fiancée.

Shiori Fuyumura (Voiced by Umeka Shoji) –
A 14-year-old classmate of Sanda who stands over 182 cm tall. She seeks help from Santa Claus to find her friend Ono, who suddenly went missing. To break the curse and revive the sealed Santa, she threatens Sanda with a deadly blade.
How did you feel when you were cast as Fuyumura in SANDA? And what message do you have for fans looking forward to the series?
Meeting Shiori Fuyumura during the audition was such a powerful experience that it feels like she’s become a constant presence in my life. I poured everything I have into this role. I’d be thrilled if SANDA reaches a wide audience.
Since this is an action series featuring Santa Claus, is there anything you’d want to ask him for?
A liver so strong that it can handle any alcohol.
Ichie Ono (Voiced by Anna Nagase) –
A classmate of Sanda and best friend of Fuyumura. She suddenly disappeared from their class, and her whereabouts remain unknown. The school considers her dead, but Fuyumura is determined to search for her with Santa Claus’ help.
How did you feel when you were cast as Ono in SANDA? And what message do you have for fans looking forward to the series?
Ono was a role that really challenged me. I struggled a lot while developing the character, and I constantly felt a sense of anxiety and tightness in my chest. I hope that feeling comes through in Ono’s portrayal. Please look forward to the broadcast!
Since this is an action series featuring Santa Claus, is there anything you’d want to ask him for?
When I was a kid, I was always the one receiving presents, so this time, I’d like to give something back. Maybe I could help out? Like riding in the sleigh with Santa and delivering presents around town! That sounds like fun.
Hitoshi Amaya (Voiced by Yuuki Shin)–
Sanda’s roommate, also known as “Prince Amaya.” He is one of the few who know Santa Claus’ secret and wants him to return to fulfill an important wish.
How did you feel when you were cast as Amaya in SANDA? And what message do you have for fans looking forward to the series?
I’m really excited to be voicing Amaya in SANDA. I enjoyed bringing out his mysterious charm through my performance. This story really makes you reflect on what it means to be an adult. It’s a wonderful series, so please be sure to watch it!
Since this is an action series featuring Santa Claus, is there anything you’d want to ask him for?
I’d love to ask Santa Claus for a Nintendo Switch 2. Even if I don’t get one, just a chance to win the pre-order lottery would be great. I’ve been good, so please! I’d like to play racing games on it!
Nico Kazao (Voiced by Misato Matsuoka) –
Sanda’s fiancée, chosen by the country from birth. She’s a realist who wants to rebel a little before becoming a “responsible adult.” She always acts freely and often swears.
How did you feel when you were cast as Nico in SANDA? And what message do you have for fans looking forward to the series?
When I first learned about Nico, I was deeply captivated by her complete freedom from any constraints. She might be someone who truly understands the preciousness of the present moment. I’m genuinely happy to be able to bring her to life! Please watch as these lovable characters struggle and grow together. I poured my heart into this role and had a great time. Since this is an action series featuring Santa Claus, is there anything you’d want to ask him for?
I love eggplant, so I’d want lots of dishes like deep-fried eggplant soaked in light dashi and mapo eggplant!
SANDA is coming to town!
SANDA blends action, social satire, and coming-of-age drama with a uniquely surreal twist on the Santa Claus mythos. The series is directed by Tomohisa Shimoyama, written by Kimiko Ueno, with music by Tomoyuki Tanaka (FPM) and character designs by Masamichi Ishiyama. Animation is handled by Science SARU.

Baku Kinoshita and Kazuya Konomoto, the acclaimed duo behind the cult hit ODDTAXI, are set to return with a powerful new original anime film, The Last Blossom (Japanese title: HOUSENKA), scheduled to premiere in Japan in Fall 2025. Produced by CLAP Animation Studio, known for their work on Pompo: The Cinephile and The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes, the film will explore themes of mortality, memory, and the quiet ache of redemption.
The film has already drawn international acclaim, having been selected for the prestigious Feature Film Competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025. It previously appeared at Annecy 2024 as a Work in Progress, with director Baku Kinoshita, producer Ryoichiro Matsuo, and concept artist Michinoku Toge offering early insight into the creative vision behind the film.
The story follows Minoru Akutsu, an elderly yakuza serving a life sentence in solitary confinement. Awaiting death in silence, he is suddenly confronted by an unlikely visitor—a talking balsam flower named Housenka. “What a pathetic life,” the flower whispers, prompting Akutsu to revisit the regrets and relationships of his past. As fragments of his life unfold, the film weaves a meditation on lost love, quiet prayers, and the delicate possibility of personal redemption.
The cast features a dual performance for the role of Akutsu. Veteran actor Kaoru Kobayashi voices the elder version of the character, while rising talent Junki Tozuka makes his voice acting debut as the younger Akutsu. Hikari Mitsushima, known for her work across acting, music, and narration, voices Nana Nagata, Akutsu’s former partner. Yoshiko Miyazaki joins the cast in a supporting role, while the enigmatic Housenka is voiced by Pierre Taki, last seen in Netflix’s Tokyo Swindlers.

With a desire to return to the essence of living, I aimed to portray the quiet strength that lies within us as we navigate our ever-changing days. I truly hope this story reaches many people and gently resonates in their hearts.
Kazuya Konomoto (Script / Screenplay)
Even in an unrewarded life, we are free to pray. Whether those prayers will ever be answered—we may never know. But still, I wanted to believe. HOUSENKA is the story of a man who has lost the place he once called home, and the silence that lingers between him and his lover. Into that silence, a single flower quietly blooms, giving rise to words that had long withered away. Before the flower could bloom, there were countless moments of silence—and one quiet, unwavering prayer. I hope that the small certainty born at the end of that long silence and prayer will quietly plant a seed in your heart, too.
The film’s soundtrack is composed by members of the band cero, known for their genre-blending musical style. Shohei Takagi, Yu Arauchi, and Tsubasa Hashimoto bring emotional texture to the narrative with their deeply atmospheric compositions.

The champion of the U.S. tournament will earn the ultimate honor—a spot at the BEYBLADE X WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2025, taking place this fall in Japan, the birthplace of Beyblade. In a statement, Masahiko Yamazaki, TOMY’s Head of Global Beyblade Business, said:

Romantic comedy fans, prepare your hearts: The Dangers in My Heart is returning to the spotlight at Anime Expo 2025—this time on the big screen.
HIDIVE, in collaboration with TV Asahi, has announced an exclusive preview panel for The Dangers in My Heart Movie, taking place Friday, July 4 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE during North America’s largest anime convention, Anime Expo. Fans can expect a first look at the highly anticipated film, which blends key moments from Seasons 1 and 2 of the anime with brand-new animation that continues Kyotaro and Anna’s offbeat love story.
The panel won’t just screen content—it’s set to feature a live Q&A with three special guests from the Japanese production team: Director Hiroaki Akagi, and Producers Yosuke Sakurai and Kazuki Endo. Fans will have the rare opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes insights from the creators themselves.

Based on the manga by Norio Sakurai, The Dangers in My Heart follows the morbidly imaginative Kyotaro Ichikawa, a loner with a dark obsession with murder… or so he believes. When he starts interacting with Anna Yamada, the bubbly and secretly clumsy school idol, his grim fantasies give way to awkward crushes and unexpected connections. The result? A twistedly sweet rom-com that flips high school romance tropes on their head.
The film, first announced in September 2024 during the “Fan Appreciation Project!!” event in Tokyo, offers a new chapter for Kyotaro and Anna—one fans won’t want to miss. HIDIVE expects the ballroom to be packed, so arrive early!
