In November 2022 Yoshiki, alongside Miyavi and Sugizo (X Japan’s new member since 2009), announced their collaboration in a new supergroup band, The Last Rockstars, with Hyde (L’Arc-en-Ciel) as a singer. The Last Rockstars is set to perform this November.

Yoshiki – The Present

Yoshiki made his directorial debut this year with his feature documentary film Yoshiki: Under the Sky. The film had its red carpet premiere on Friday, September 15th. Additionally, Yoshiki was nominated and selected as the first Japanese artist to be honored with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood California.

At the ceremony, Yoshiki gave a speech of acceptance, gave interviews, and, of course, submerged in his hands and iconic drumsticks in cement.

X Japan fans watched across the street as access to the historic event was blocked off. Some fans traveled from far reaches of California, while other more local fans spent around five hours waiting for the event to begin.
